Eythorne Village Stores
My name is Rakesh Patel, I started the business in December 2012. When we started the business, the shop was shut down since March 2012. It took us a long time to get everyone back in the shop. My wife and I created good customer relationship. The feedback from customers increased the range of products.

Preston Village Shop
Our charming village shop is a 16th century listed building. It provides a vital service to our isolated location. The business, a general store and newsagent, has been owned by Sean and Lindsey for 4 years. We also sell local produce – honey, apply juice, homemade cakes, pastries, jams and chutneys.

Speldhurst Village Store
Speldhurst Post Office is the only shop in the village – but it is much more than this thanks to the unique qualities of Anu who has become an institution there. First as the local midwife for many years and then the last 4 years as post mistress and retail therapist extraordinaire.

Bidborough Stores
We bought Bidborough Stores and moved into the village in 2006. Our shop is unique because, aside from being a major local point in the village, we buy everything reasonably possible from local suppliers and stock speciality produce. Everything you would expect from a village store, but so much more.

Upstreet Village Store
The shop has been in current ownership for 18 months. The current owner has had a shop for 10 years in Welling. Purchased this shop because I liked Upstreet village.

Best Local Food Retailer

Raffertys has been established since 2010 but underwent new management and a full refurbishment and re-opened in 2015. Our new aims are to concentrate on sourcing local produce and showcasing artisan food whilst serving the community with its every need. We are fresh becoming the hub of Eynsford!

Wady & Brett
Located in the village of Charing, Wady & Brett serves its local community. The business has been established over 50 years, but has been in the hands of the present owners since November 2011. Wady & Brett is a family owned business. It is well established in the community and employs local people.

Aldington Post Office and Stores
My wife and I bought the shop just over a year ago. Very friendly locals – like to spend time chatting to us and others.

Best Small Farm Shop

Harvel House Farm Shop
Harvel House Farm Shop was opened in 2008 by Stephen and Joanne Jones to sell the meat produced on their farm. The shop has a traditional butcher, greengrocer and delicatessen and has become hugely popular in the local area, despite only opening two days a week and being difficult to find.

Chilham Farm Shop
Peter Higgs is involved in many local community groups who organise events in Chilham and surrounding villages and he works hard within those groups to ensure the sustainability of the village. He has been trading for 33 years. The shop stocks a beautiful and colourful array of produce most of it from local suppliers.

Parsonage Farm
Family run business who pride themselves on farm meat that has been bred on the farm. Business has been in this shop for 11 years and previous to that it was a smaller butchers on the farm.

Broadditch Farm Shop
Broadditch Farm Shop opened in 1990 and is owned by the Harris Family, who have farmed in Southfleet since 1848. We grow a selection of seasonal vegetables, which are available in our shop straight after harvesting. Much of our produce and products have been sourced from local farms and suppliers.

Barham Village Store
Having lost our post office and shop in 2008, share capital was raised and a temporary tenanted shop created. On expiry of leave, we decided to create a true community shop in an extension to our village hall. 10 months on, we have a thriving village store and an amazing community spirit.

Benenden Community Shop
Benenden Community Shop started trading in June 2015 and following refurbishment of the building, a café was opened alongside the shop and post office in January 2016. The shop is owned by a community benefit society, with more than 300 local shareholders and run by 5 paid staff and 70 volunteers.

The shop was set up in 2001 as a result of the last shop closing. The shop originally was from the lobby of the village hall. The current shop, which is an extension of the hall, was completed in 2003.

Minster Post Office is a family run post office with a vast selection of cards from Hallmark and huge selection of gifts from across the suppliers from UK. We also stock good variety of wool and everyday DIY stock. We are proud to be a part of Minster.

Smarden Post Office and Stores
Jill Alanskas, owner with no previous experience in rural retail. A tiny rural post office and village shop combined. It has its own sorting space for mail and amazingly two postmen work from the site. Smarden is proud of its post office. We provide an amazing range of goods and services, it is the heart of the community.

Nadines of Minster
I’ve been sub post master for 10 years, my dad owned it before me for 18 years. Have worked here for 28 years. Myself and the staff always give a smile and help everyone we can.

Yalding Post Office
Yalding Post Office is run by postmaster Tim Chapman and his wife June. It has served the very picturesque village of Yalding for 116 years. Tiny in size – big in locally sourced produce and friendly welcome to all who come through the door.

West Malling Post Office and Best Parties Store
Our Post Office is at the centre of our community, we took over a few years ago and have modernised it by investing its future, having a complete refurbishment. We offer a wide variety of services and products that complement our small town, including a much loved party store!

Goudhurst Newsagent
I bought Goudhurst Newsagents 9 years ago. This was a new exciting venture. I was a London City worker. Within a couple of years of owning this store, a long love affair began with Goudhurst. I turned a traditional newsagent into the hub of the community by being a pioneer in integrating a new format post office.

Tenterden Post Office
Tenterden Post Office Trust went through a total refurbishment and now supplies gift wrap, greeting cards and a full range of stationery.

Haven Post Office
Derek and Wendy of Harvest 4U Ltd took over Haven in 2012. In 2015 the post office was relocated to within the shop. It is now one of the first post offices to open 7 days (Monday to Saturday 8-6 / Sunday 10-4). We pride ourselves on promoting local produce and business alike in turn reducing food miles and lightening our carbon footprint.

Bickers News and Post office

Chilham Post Office
Peter Higgs is involved in many local community groups who organise events in Chilham and surrounding villages and he works hard within those groups to ensure the sustainability of the village. He has been running the Post Office for 8 years initially with the previous sub post master but now is the sub post master. We took over to keep open the post office that was about to close.

Lower Halling Post Office
The shop is owned by Mrs and Mr Patel. My business is located in a small and friendly village. We have had this shop about 21 years and 5 months. We offer a selection of products to meet the needs of consumers as well as offer a post office service to meet consumer’s needs. Our aim is to provide our consumers a good experience as well as provide good products and offers.
